Lisbon
Lisbon is a wonderful European city that has retained its traditional
character and embraced a sense of modern style. The city is built on hills
above the Tejo estuary. It takes a few days to do Lisbon justice, or you
could consider a week’s trip and incorporate visits to Estoril and
Sintra. Trips easily done by public transport.
Must see and do:
- Take a wonderful tram journey winding through all the historical districts of Lisbon on route 28.
- Visit the Alfama, a village in the heart of the capital, with narrow cobbled streets.

- Explore the Museu Gulbenkian – for arts from the ancient times to the twentieth century.
- Take a day tip out to the mountain retreat at Sintra, with Palaces and country estates to explore.
- Eat in a traditional seafood restaurant down by the docks.
- Browse though the fashionable shops in the Chiado district.
