Dublin
Picture a city that exudes warmth has traditional music filling the streets
and where merriment is evident throughout and you will think of Dublin.
There is nothing quite like the Irish Welcome, often described as the “world’s
warmest welcome”.

Dublin is city for everyone with its musical delights, café culture and general air of laughter. Dublin is famous for its great literary tradition. With its famous literary sons such as James Joyce, WB Yeats and George Bernard Shaw, Dublin is so full of inspirational atmosphere and rich in culture and tradition.
As soon as you get on your feet and begin to walk its accessible streets, discovering along the way how small it is, how charming it is, and how admirably low-key the locals are, you realise you have come to the right place.
Must see and do:
- Dublin offers great historical interest as well as architectural beauty. Much of the charm of Dublin comes from wandering around the Georgian Dublin, through leafy St Stephen’s Green or through Merrion Square Park with its sculptures.
- Head off to the fashionable shopping area around Grafton Street and on to Temple Bar, with its street performers and quirky shops as well as a huge variety of bars and eateries.
- Maybe while mum is shopping with the kids, Dad could pop into a local pub for a pint of Guinness and a bit of “craic”, the Gaelic word for “an enjoyable time spent with other people”. Perhaps mum could do with a pint instead!
- For a breath of fresh air, why not enjoy life a relaxed pace by visiting the rolling countryside, said to be “forty shades of green”. Around Dublin you will find lush landscapes blending with you could take the DART north to Malahide, and visit its grand old castle. Alternatively, head south to Dalkey (home to Ireland’s rich and famous), which has a couple of smaller castles, and newer versions in the form of grand villas, built above its pleasant, wind-blown beaches.
Dublin is a cosmopolitan city and visitors will enjoy its friendly, easygoing lifestyle. You will find it bawdy and boisterous and at the same time gentle and charming, with plenty to do, day or night!
