Camping in the UK
You don’t have to travel far to have a great family camping experience. In fact for your first trip it may be sensible to stick closer to home. Whatever your reasoning – the UK is a fabulous place to explore with so much choice and contrast.

South West England – including Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and
Dorset.
This area covers beautiful coastline, the Atlantic Ocean, sandy beaches,
great small seaside towns, surfing, a national park at Dartmoor and Exmoor,
and the Jurassic Coast
Southern England – including Hampshire, Isle of White, and
Oxfordshire.
This area is great for beach holidays (Swanage, Bournemouth and the fabulous
Durdle Door); the Isle of Purbeck, green rolling hills and valleys with
excellent walking through pretty villages. The New Forest is peaceful and
offers the opportunity of pony and horse riding. In Oxford you can go punting
along the river!
South East England – including East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey
and Kent.
Sussex is a great place to walk, cycle and even rock climb. Ashdown Forest
has stunning views over the South Downs. Kent is known as the Garden of England
with lots of fruit picking and Surrey has a network of rivers and many beautiful
National Trust sites to explore.
East of England – including Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire
and Hertfordshire.
Suffolk has miles of unspoilt coastline, Norfolk has the broads to explore
by boat and is flat so it’s great for cycling. Cambridgeshire has
the Fenland network of rivers and canals and the city to explore with its
historical
university buildings.
Central England – including Lincolnshire, Rutland, Nottinghamshire,
and Derbyshire.
The Lincolnshire wolds and fens, the Peak District National Park in Derbyshire,
Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire, Rutland Water - great for water sports,
The Cotswolds to the west.
North of England – including Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cumbria
and Northumbria.
The Yorkshire Dales National Park, good coastal bird watching on the Sefton
coast and around the Wirral Peninsular, the Lake District National Park with
water sports on Lake Windermere, and Northumberland National Park.
Wales
Has three national parks, Snowdonia with mountains, lakes and streams, Brecon
Beacons with moorlands and forest, Anglesey and Pembrokeshire Coastline.
Scotland
Has ancient castles and abbeys, the highlands and islands including Skye,
Lochs including Loch Ness – home of the monster! Edinburgh and Glasgow
are lively historical cities.
Northern Ireland
The Giants Causeway, lush green fields, lakes, islands, forests and sandy
beaches. The bustle of Belfast city – great restaurants and cafes.
