Cyprus
Located in the eastern Mediterranean only 44 miles south of Turkey and 64
miles west of Syria, Cyprus is steeped in myths & legends and is also not short
of history. But most holiday makers choose Cyprus for its Sunshine, hospitality
and its romance, hence “Aphrodite’s Isle”. There is no
doubt that the beauty of the Island is breathtaking, with its mountain and
coastal scenery.
Summer heat can reach 90° on the beaches and of course Cyprus is renowned
for its blue flag beaches. You’ll find plenty of watersport centres,
with cafes and tavernas behind them. If the beach becomes to hot, then you
will find activities away from the coast, which include wandering the island’s
orange and lemon groves, the banana and avocado plantations, the Troodos Mountains,
plenty of castles and Greek and Roman remains. A visit to the Capital town
of Nicosia is a must. Cyprus is a romantic island with something for everyone.
Limassol is the largest seaside resort in Cyprus and therefore has plenty to
offer its visitors, so expect a wide and mixed clientele, including families,
couples and young singles.
Paphos is steeped in history and offers plenty to discover and explore. Here
you will find the tombs of the Kings and the archaeological remains at the
House of Dionysis. You can also visit the birdpark in Paphos with its waterfalls
in unspoilt natural parkland. Here you can catch a scenic boat trip to Coral
Bay, another self contained, developing resort, but a quieter alternative to
Paphos. It boasts one the finest beaches in the area and is worth a visit.
Ayia Napa has grown into a lively resort that never sleeps. It is a friendly
resort that attracts young sun-worshippers and sports enthusiasts, alike. It
is described as a bustling resort. The nightlife is eventful for those families
that have older teenagers looking for fun. But there is always nearby Nissi
Beach which is quieter and more relaxing and is still within close proximity
to the nearby waterpark. Nissi Beach stretches for 500m and is swept with flawless
wide sands.
Protaras is a modern purpose built resort that attracts families. It is particularly
popular for its watersports. The resort stretches over 6 km along the sandy-beached
coastline and is interspersed with rocky coves. The beaches are stunning. Protaras
is without the frenetic nightlife of nearby Ayia Napa.
